Contact Segmentation – How It Can Increase Your Sales
Last time on the blog, we mentioned the concept of segmentation. Today, we’re going to go into a little more depth explaining what that means, and how it’s going to benefit you.
As Lewis Carroll said – let’s begin at the beginning.
What is Segmentation?
Segmentation is the process of dividing a database into smaller groups. It helps you to focus your marketing messages so that they are more relevant to individual customers, and therefore more effective.
Segmentation can be used to identify the best customers for your products or services, and also the best customers for your advertising campaigns.
Segmentation helps you to tailor your marketing messages for each group of customers. This means that you can create separate messages for different groups, and also vary the way in which those messages are delivered. For example, if you have a product aimed at young people, then it makes sense to advertise on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Why Segment my Contacts?
Segmenting your database allows you to send targeted emails, targeted ads, targeted text messages, targeted social media posts, and even targeted in-store messages.
Once you’ve segmented your database it’s easy to send:
- A different email for each segment. For example, if a customer has bought from you twice then they might get an offer for 20% off their next purchase. If someone has only ever bought one item from your store then they could get a discount on their first order.
- Different ads depending on the type of person who clicked the ad and what they have purchased from your store before (i.e., if someone has been buying clothes for children aged 3-5 then show them adverts for more clothes for children aged 3-5).
Segmentation is essential for CRM Users
Segmentation is an essential practice for CRM users. It’s the process of dividing a large group into smaller, more homogeneous subgroups. Segmentation can help improve marketing campaigns and make them more effective by allowing you to target your audience more effectively.
It also helps you understand your customers better by providing granular detail about their behavior and preferences. This lets you create targeted messages that speak directly to the needs of each segment.
